The house
The house is set on the edge of a tranquil hamlet facing meadows and walnut groves. The entrance, under a grapevine and climbing roses gives onto an enclosed private courtyard. Both sides of the house have large French windows which flood it with sunlight.

The ground floor has lots of character with exposed beams and a country style, open plan living/dining room with a massive stone fireplace as the focal point, flanked by comfortable sofa and chairs. The furniture is sturdy antique French provincial. The kitchen area is fully-equipped with a gas hob, an electric oven, a dishwasher, microwave and fridge/freezer, toaster, coffee maker and opens onto a large shaded terrace with barbecue and dining furniture, facing the private pool (10x6m). The adjoining poolhouse contains the washing machine and plenty of space to store shopping, bags and laundry. There is a WC and built-in cupboard space downstairs for the hoover and ironing board etc.
The first floor features two large double bedrooms, one with a double bed (160x200cm) and the other with twin beds (90x190). The smaller bedroom has bunk beds (90x190). All bedrooms have a chest of drawers and the two large ones have a mirror and clothes hanging space. The bathroom has a shower-and-tub and a WC. There is also a separate WC next to the bathroom. A baby cot and highchair are available. Bed linen is available for hire. For the active types there is table tennis and a boules set on site.
The house sleeps up to 6 people comfortably, but is also ideal for two.
The pool and garden
The garden has a beautifully landscaped area around the private pool. The property faces two large waltnut groves and has a small footpath alongside leading to the woods and many nature walks. It is an ideal spot for nature lovers: most nights are spent listening to the crickets and the barn owls. During the day one can admire the swallows swooping into the pool. The pool is equipped with an alarm in accordance with French legislation. There is a generous sunning area and six sun chairs around the pool.
Location
La Treille is located 20kms north-east of Périgueux, a beautiful medieval town and the capital of the Dordogne. There are numerous markets all year round: Excideuil on Thursday mornings, Sorges on Sundays, Thiviers on Saturday mornings, Périgueux on Wednesday and Saturday mornings, Brantôme...
If châteaux is your thing, La Treille is 25kms from the impressive Hautefort castle, 25kms from Renaissance Puygilhem and 30kms from Bourdeilles. Caves abound in the area, the nearest one being in Villars, stunning with its beautifully lit stalagtites and stalagmites. Further south you will see the replica of the famous Lascaux caves with their cave paintings. Rouffignac cave has a small electric train that takes you deep into the heart of the cave where there are also beautiful paintings. Concerts and festivals abound in the summer. Every town and village has something going on. For those who love sports, canoeing is available on all rivers, in Brantôme, on the Isle and the shady Auvézère rivers, and on the Dordogne, where you can also enjoy a trip on a Gabare (a flat bottom boat).
Tennis is available in the village, just two minutes down the road.
In the village you will also find a small supermarket, two butchers, a bakers, a bar, a pharmacie and a doctor.
Although there is much to see and do in the area, you will also be very tempted to just lie around by the pool!
