We fell in love with Tremblant 4 years ago having become frustrated and bored with standard package holidays to the usual destinations. Canada has such a great sense of adventure about it, 4 distinct seasons and more than its fair share of landscapes and wildlife - it was also a rather pleasant surprise that such a great destination was so close to our UK home (only a 6.5hrs flight). Each member of my family tends to enjoy a different type of holiday, so we appreciate how relaxing and unwinding is different for everyone. Choice of holiday experience is important and here it is simply offered up by the bucket loa d. Whether you want a busy action packed day or crave a quiet leisurely one the cabin and the immediate surrounding area delivers without effort – even when it comes to little things like eating in or dining out. Prepare a gourmet meal in the superbly appointed kitchen, enjoy a simple BBQ of local fresh produce on the deck under the stars or catch some mountain air and take a leisurely stroll to the lakeside Auberge Caribou where chef Suzanne will prepare an a la carte treat for you to savour (wild game and fresh local fish are specialities) WHAT ELSE IS CLOSE BY? A convenience store with extended opening hours is located a short walk or drive from the cabin – selling a wide range of everyday consumables, fresh bread, milk, ham & cheeses, locally prepared cook at home meals, wine / beer, tobacco and gas. A diverse selection of other restaurants, supermarkets, chemists, a doctor surgery, banks, boutiques, in fact all you are likely to need are also nearby at the quaint and friendly town of St.Jovite - 15 minutes away. Nearest Motorway : Route 117 at 15 Kilometres Nearest Beach : Lac Superieur approx. 500m from the cabin Nearest River : Le Boule approx. 100m from the cabin Nearest Ski lift: Mont Tremblant North Side at 6km WILL YOU NEED A CAR? Yes - we would strongly advise that to make the most of the location during your vacation a car is essential. WHAT IS THE WEATHER LIKE? The region enjoys 4 very distinct seasons: - WINTER 07/08 (November to April) Min -14*C (6*F) Max 11*C (51*F) - SPRING 08 (April to June) Min 7*C (33*F) Max 23*C (73*F) - SUMMER 08 (July to September) Min 10*C (50*F) Max 27*C (80*F) - AUTUMN 08 (September to November) Min 4*C (39*F) Max 20*C (68*F) HOW RELIABLE IS SNOW IN WINTER? Very - the height of the resort means Tremblant has some of the most reliable seasonal snowfalls in Canada with the past 10 years seeing a steady increasing trend: 2008/9 481 cm (189”) 2007/8 600 cm (236”) 2006/7 301 cm (119”) 2005/6 432 cm (170”) 2004/5 302 cm (119”) 2003/4 404 cm (162”) 2002/3 416 cm (166”) 2001/2 358 cm (143”) 2000/1 348 cm (140”) 1999/00 343 cm (138”)

A NATURAL PLAYGROUND
THE NATIONAL PARK: The proximity of Parc national du Mont-Tremblant (Mont-Tremblant National Park) to the cabin (<10 minutes away), puts a wide array of summer outdoor activities in easy reach. The park, which is Quebecs oldest and largest protected region, takes up an area of over 1500 km (932 mi) and is home to hundreds of lakes, mountainous terrain, hiking and biking trails, waterfalls, winding rivers and peaceful lakes. The area also provides a natural habitat for various wildlife, such as black bears, wolves, moose, beavers, deer, foxes and bald eagles so grab your rucksack, camera and boots and go explore! The park itself makes catching a glimpse of the wildlife that inhabit it (and enjoying the many scenic vistas) easy via the network of hiking and cycling paths, or by the canoe routes that wind their way through the lush forests of the area. There are a number of campsites in the park where hikers or paddlers can stop for the night, but most sites are basic so returning to the warmth and shelter of your log home seems a wiser choice. A great way to appreciate the impressive surroundings of Mont-Tremblant is by riding the panoramic gondola up to the summit at any time of the year – with the season helping you decide whether it’s a hot chocolate or a sparkling wine you treat yourself to. TREMBLANT RESORT: The cobbled pedestrian streets of Mont-Tremblant’s resort village wind up past it’s colourful buildings guiding you to the many treats that reside at the foot of the mountain – strong willpower is needed not to indulge yourself in one of the many quaint cafes, creperies, chocolatiers or abundance of designer boutiques, gift shops and galleries. The resorts wide variety of restaurants allows you to sample Quebecois cuisine at its best in atmospheric surroundings. The local cuisine is scrumptious and hearty with wild game specialties such as venison or caribou, mountain trout and rabbit given a traditional French Canadian twist. Mont-Tremblant region likes to party so there is nearly always a festival or special event to spice up the streets of the alpine village and see it through the seasons Set on shores of Lac Tremblant and close to the main resort is “Old Tremblant”. A New England style village complete with friendly residents, pretty slat board houses and a spattering of really great eateries. Whilst mixing with the friendly locals you may even bump into a few famous Hollywood names who are now local residents (Michael Douglas & Catherine Zeta Jones) THE CASINO If your feeling Lucky the all-new Casino de Mont-Tremblant (10 minutes from the cabin) opened earlier this year. The no expense spared casino nestled within the Mountain will undoubtedly provide a glitzy, glamorous and hopefully fun night to remember – whether lucky on the tables or simply absorbing the atmosphere. MONTREAL Take a drive to Montreal. Just 90 minutes away, Olympic city Montreal combines the modernism of a North American city with the European charm of its French roots. For the sports fan, Montreal boasts a major league baseball team, probably the most famous NHL ice hockey team and until 2009 annually hosted the Canadian F1 Grand Prix. For those seeking something a little more cultural, Montreal has one of the greatest collections of art galleries and museums, is home to the Montreal symphony orchestra and the Cirque de Soleil and has a true festival culture, including the world renowned Jazz Festival and the Just for Laughs comedy festival. With some 4500 restaurants and vibrant nightlife, anything from a quiet dinner to dancing until dawn is possible. Or you can always shop - Montreals amazing underground city makes shopping all year round a memorable experience and is now rivalling New York as the shopping capital of the world. QUEBEC Around a 4 hour drive will bring you to the charming provincial capital of Quebec city. Dominating the St.Lawrence river from its position atop the Cap Diamante, this is North Americas only fortified city. Stroll the narrow cobbled streets with their 17th & 18th-century buildings, pavement cafes, shops and inns and relax in the vast parks that skirt the city. Take in the citys attractions which as a world heritage site include fine art galleries, the Plains of Abraham, the Citadelle fortress as well as playing host to numerous festivals (including the biggest winter festival in the world!). Quebec city is also the seat of government and there are guided tours through the imposing parliament buildings. For that un-missable experience of a lifetime, why not take a trip up the St.Lawrence River for a breathtaking view of whales in their natural environment. There are just so many other wilderness experiences to be had in this awesome region Of course, despite all that is on offer, you may simply want to grab a good book, curl up by the fire with your favourite cocktail and watch the sun set over the mountains – life can be far too tough sometimes.
