Within easy reach of the Camargue national park with flamingoes, bulls and wild horses.
Built on a hill, the medieval city centre is divided into concentric streets around an impressive castle completed in the 17th century. Castries, a medieval town with a view of the Camargue. The road Via Domitia, already existed in Roman times. In the middle Ages, the city expanded gradually. Later, during the Renaissance, the castle prosper and received many illustrious guests from Louis XIV to Madame de Sevigne, it is also likely that Molière's theatre group came to play. The aqueduct of Castries is also worth a visit. Pierre Paul Riquet (the founder of the Canal du Midi) is the creator. The aqueduct was completed in 1671. It diverts water from the Fontgrand fountain directly to the castle, through 7km of scrubland.
